Statement from Senator Terry Stratton on the Death of the Honourable Duff Roblin
May 31, 2010
Winnipeg – Today I am saddened by the passing of one of Manitoba`s most renowned politicians The Honourable Duff Roblin.  Over the weekend, at the age of 92, Duff passed away after a lifetime of serving our province both as Premier of Manitoba from 1958 – 1967, as well as a member of the Senate of Canada from 1978 – 1992.

There are few people in our lives that encompass the vision and leadership that defined Duff Roblin.  And although he may no longer be with us, he leaves behind a legacy for many generations to come.

Duff will be predominantly remembered as the creator of our floodway or as it is often referred to as ``Duff`s Ditch``.  But it is also important to remember his contributions on postsecondary education and the evolution of Manitoba.

In 2008, Manitobans named Duff Roblin as our ``Greatest Manitoban`` which is a true testament to the impact he has made on our great province.
Manitobans have lost a great leader and I have lost a great mentor.

To his wife Mary and their family I offer my deepest condolences and my sincerest appreciation to each of you for sharing Duff with the rest of us.
