Manitoba Feels Sense of Pride for Stanley Cup Winners
June 10, 2010
Thursday, June 10, 2010 – You don`t have to be a hockey fan to be proud of three of our own hometown heroes who last night defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime. Winnipeggers Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith and Patrick Sharp all play for the Chicago Blackhawks and just yesterday they played a part in history by winning the Stanley Cup for Chicago after 49 years. Toews, who is the captain of the Blackhawks, was also awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for most valuable player during the playoffs. It`s been quite a year for Toews who only months ago won a gold medal in the Men`s hockey at the Olympics in Vancouver. Congratulations to each of you for your tremendous sportsmanship and dedication to your team. You have made all of us in Manitoba very proud! - Senator Terry Stratton |
