Manitoba conservative caucus holds consultation meeting on phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan
January 25, 2010
Winnipeg, Manitoba – Senator Stratton along with members of the Manitoba Conservative Caucus, including the Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety and Regional Minister for Manitoba, held a consultation meeting with community and business leaders to discuss Phase II of Canada’s Economic Action Plan (EAP). “Our government consults with Canadians on a regular basis and meetings such as this provide for a thorough discussion and feedback from the grassroots level,” said Stratton. Canada’s EAP was set out as a stimulus measure with a two-year time frame and is now reaching the second year of the plan. Phase II of the EAP will continue to ensure Canada’s economy grows as quickly as possible once the recovery begins to take hold, but will also begin to see reductions in the deficit and a return to balanced budgets once the economy is fully recovered. “Our priority has always been to ensure that Canada emerges from the recession with a stronger economy to meet tomorrow’s challenges,” said Stratton. “I was encouraged by today’s meeting that we are going in the right direction.” |
