Harper Government Supports Deloraine’s Recreational Upgrades
August 19, 2009
Deloraine will move forward with renovations to the Outdoor Pool thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan. Today, Merv Tweed, Member of Parliament for Brandon – Souris, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced federal funding for the Deloraine project that will create jobs. “Through Canada’s Econmic Action Plan, our Government is creating jobs and building stronger, healthier communities,” said MP Tweed. "The replacement of the deck at the pool in Deloraine will keep the facility modern and efficient." Funding of $21,450 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan. “It is with great pleasure that we enter into a partnership with Western Economic Diversification to replace the outdoor deck at the Deloraine/Winchester Swimming Pool. This deck will be completed in three phases over the next 12 months, the final stage using environmentally friendly recycled product to prolong the lifespan of our facility,” said Reeve Michael Dillabough. “Projects such as this showcase the strong partnership between the Town of Deloraine and the Rural Municipality of Winchester in their desire to not only maintain, but to improve the infrastructure of Community owned and operated recreational facilities.” Under the project, the existing unistone deck around the outdoor pool will be removed and replaced with new decking. The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities. |
