Economic Growth Continues
August 31, 2010
August 31, 2010 - Statistics Canada announced today that GDP in Canada increased 2.0% in the second quarter of 2010. This increase demonstrates once again that Canada's economy is on the right track. In fact, Canada's economy has grown in nine of the past ten months, clear evidence that Canada’s Economic Action Plan is working. However, the global economic recovery remains fragile. That's why creating jobs and protecting Canada's economic advantage remains our government's top priority. Today, nearly 400,000 more Canadians have jobs than a year ago. The IMF and the OECD predict that Canada’s economic growth will be at the head of the pack in the industrialized world for both this year and next. While we're focused on jobs and growth, the Opposition’s plan to raise taxes would halt our recovery in its tracks, and according to experts, kill almost 400,000 jobs. |
