NEW Manitoba Law Bans Cell Phone Use Beginning July 15, 2010
As of Thursday, July 15, 2010, if you drive in Manitoba while texting or using a handheld cell phone it will cost you $191.00.
The law was implemented in an effort to make our roads safer.

The amendments also ban smoking in vehicles when children under the age of 16 are travelling in the vehicle as well.  The fine for smoking with minors in the car is also $191.00.

Manitoba is following suit of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Alberta and Prince Edward Island which have comparable laws to banning the use of handheld cell phones.
